Founded in 1998, VIASPACE Inc. leverages proven space and defense technologies from NASA and the Department of Defense to develop industry leading products and applications that solve complex problems and address critical needs in high-growth industries including clean energy and security. Working through two divisions VIASPACE delivers leading edge technology solutions to the global markets for fuel cell energy supply, fuel cell testing, homeland security, commercial security, national defense, industrial process control, microelectronics, sensor fusion, RFID asset tracking, diagnostics/prognostics and information technology.

VIASPACE draws on breakthrough innovation from the U.S. space and defense programs to develop industry leading commercial products and applications. The company has licensed an extensive portfolio of patents and software technology from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), manager of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for NASA. Initial investments in these late-stage technologies amount to millions of dollars and many years of top tier R&D, enabling VIASPACE to manage the commercialization process with modest additional investment and greatly reduced technical risk.

VIASPACE is growing. Business unit VIASPACE Energy offers a line of fuel cell humidity sensor products, operates wholly owned subsidiary Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation's fuel cell cartridge business, and pursues new opportunities in the alternative energy market. Subsidiary VIASPACE Security, Inc. leverages a NASA-developed inference and sensor data fusion platform to deliver new products and applications to improve the accuracy, sensitivity and performance of complex sensor-based systems used in homeland defense, military and security applications including container screening, maritime port security and concealed and improvised explosive device detection. VIASPACE subsidiary IONfinity is developing mass spectrometry technology for industrial process control, homeland security and national defense applications.
