Field Radar Installation Engineer

Summary: We are currently looking to build and expand our sensor fusion business around an established perimeter surveillance radar solution. We are looking for one or more "A - Team" players who can roll up their sleeves and help us develop and deliver perimeter based Radar and other EO sensor solutions in the field.
Leading candidates will have the experience, intellect, technical skills necessary, and the passion of "being on site" to step up to the challenge in leveraging your known knowledge and our leading-edge technology to both define the problem, and deliver the solution.
Job Description:
A full time position as a senior member of small group of multi-discipline technologists involved in designing and delivering advanced security applications and tools based on leading edge Doppler perimeter security Radar, Video and IR Camera technology, and other in house developed sensor fusion software technologies. As member of a new field services team, candidate will lead the overall design, installation and systems integration of large scale on-site customer security solution deployments.
Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates should have technical qualifications and experience in the following areas:
- Ground based Radar and Camera surveillance installation and networking
- Radar installation and operation, principles and theory
- Strong background in Networking, Network management and software development,
- BS is Computer Science, EE or equivalent experience
- Other security application qualifications will be considered (Military background, network/physical security, Security Clearance, etc.)
Candidate must demonstrate strong background or desire in field engineering assignments where travel (Domestic and International), long days, and rolled up sleeves are the norm; and "thinking on your feet" and MacGyver skills often carry the day.
Software Development Engineer
Summary: A Software Development Engineer designs and builds overall software architecture and applications required for a product or application system. This individual possesses strong background in design, code and test of software systems, including background in real-time systems and video applications. These engineers are at an advanced skill level, generally with an advanced degree, and they work primarily with more senior members of the programming staff to develop overall systems architecture and applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs, analyzes, and modifies software systems including testing and debugging of software systems as needed to support company products or software applications.
- Recommends alterations and enhancements to software systems architecture improve the overall all use of various products, working in concert with camera hardware engineers, graphical user interface developers, image processing engineers and other software programmers to create overall system design
- Inputs to documentation to describe program development, systems design and logic, algorithms, and corrections.
- Inputs to manuals for users to describe installation and operating procedures for entire software systems
- Participates in program presentations.
- Performs a variety of tasks. A large degree of creativity is expected
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- Requires an advanced degree in computer science.
- Strong background in large scale software development and software release expertise
- 5-10 years of experience in large scale projects, including design, code and test of software systems and architecture.
- 5-10 years of experience in real-time systems and video applications.
- Demonstrates good level of understanding of the large majority of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Can accomplish goals on projects following general guidance with limited supervision.
- Prefer substantial prior experience on a technical team in research and/or product development
Work Environment:
- Limited travel expected.
- Work is performed predominantly in an office environment; occasional visits or activities in a manufacturing environment are required
- Attendance at customers' offices and job sites may be required
Physical Demands:
- Minor lifting up to 25 pounds may be required on occasion
Mechanical Design Engineer
Summary: Mechanical design engineers spend the large portion of their time designing and engineering a variety of fuel cell devices and components. These are largely plastic parts made by injection molding or extrusion. The engineer will participate in design and integration phases and will interface with outsourced cartridge manufacturers and customers. Some travel to USA and within Asia will be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversight of Prototyping and fabrication skills; Demonstrated knowledge of DFMA principles.
- Design, test, and implement manufacturing process tools, fixtures and equipment.
- Design and test plastic parts
- Analyze problems at suppliers and partner companies; recommend solutions; monitor and interface for resolution
- Manage the overall technical development of the fuel cell products and coordinate efforts in the U.S. and other countries
- FEA modeling and analysis.
- Participate in program presentations and technical meetings.
- Performs a variety of tasks. Some degree of creativity is expected
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 plus years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth knowledge and application of engineering principles and concepts.
- Working knowledge of Solidworks 2D and 3D (2006 preferable) and experience in detailing and GD&T per ASME Y14.5M standards.
- Prototyping and fabrication skills; Demonstrated knowledge of DFMA principles.
- High level of initiative, with an ability to plan, manage tasks, conceptualize, implement, and validate solutions.
- Demonstrated analytic and empirical problem solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
- Expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Ability to communicate well at multiple management levels within a company
- Program management experience
- amiliarity with a product development cycle.
- Demonstrated ability in designing plastic and metal parts.
- Quality Assurance working experience.
- Statistical analysis, reliability and six-sigma knowledge.
- Participates in program presentations.

Electronics Technician
Summary: This individual will provide electronics assembly and troubleshooting skills, establish safety and assembly instructions, input to customer operations and maintenance manuals and provide general electronics lab support for new Viaspace products. This individual will order, track, store and inventory components, sub-systems and equipment associated with products. This individual will perform analysis and repair of equipment failures or maintenance issues and interface at times with Business Development in the establishment of customer service and support plans for new products.
Supervisory relationship: This is an hourly wage, individual contributor position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide electronics technical skills in PCB (printed circuit board) and assembly testing and troubleshooting.
- Design and build test setups.
- Conduct electrical and electromechanical prototype assembly from schematics or from engineering drawings.
- Test and troubleshoot software-driven electromechanical products in development format (alpha and beta versions) and in production format.
- Provide feedback on assembled product prototypes to engineering and operations
- Establish test procedures to certify products to applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct internal tests of new products as assigned.
- Input to technical specification sheets, operating and user manuals
- Support other new products or electronics equipment as they develop in fuel cells, cartridges and components as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A.S. degree or technical school minimum in electrical/electronics
- Proven ability to use electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, DC power supplies.
- Proven ability in the assembly of electrical/electronics equipment of various types and complexities
- Advanced skill level in soldering (surface mount)
- Proven ability to record data in an organized fashion and to follow/fill out a test plan with minimal oversight
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks and to meet short deadlines
- Current experience in technical development of new products and ramp up to manufacturing in high volumes
- High level of initiative, with an ability to self plan and manage tasks
- Demonstrated analytic and empirical problem solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
- Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).Lab View experience a definite plus.
- Ability to communicate well at multiple management levels within a company
