VIASPACE established the VIASPACE Energy business unit to accelerate the growth of its fuel cell humidity sensor product line, to expand its direct methanol fuel cell cartridge business and to pursue new opportunities identified within the growing alternative energy market.
The VIASENSOR HS-1000 Fuel Cell Humidity Sensor product has generated significant early interest in the marketplace and VIASPACE is expanding its customer base in the United States and Asia. The VIASENSOR is a proprietary, leading edge, laser-based test device that quickly and accurately determines the level of absolute humidity or water vapor flowing in a gas stream, which is vital to the proper function and efficiency of hydrogen fuel cells.
VIASPACE has received positive feedback from potential customers in several market sectors including major auto manufacturers, automotive test systems providers, fuel cell developers and suppliers to portable electronics OEMs.
The VIASENSOR BA-1000 Battery Electrode Health Analyzer is designed to aide the research and development staffs of many companies struggling to get accurate readings on the performance and volatility of batteries of various chemistries. The company believes that there is a strong possibility that the BA-1000 will also serve another purpose as a quality assurance instrument in screening batches of raw materials and finished batteries in the production environment as well.
The company continues to develop its line of methanol fuel cell cartridges and associated connection valves, working with an ever widening group of major companies striving to introduce portable electronic devices that are powered by fuel cells. Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation (DMFCC), the Company's subsidiary focused on this technology, is also an active participant in global technical groups currently working to finalize standards for safety and interchangeability of fuel cell cartridges.
