Train to Busan (2016)

One of the better known Korean horror flicks, zombie drama Train to Busan made international waves when it premiered in 2016, and for good reason. The action horror was the most exciting and emotionally engaging the zombie drama had been in a long time?World War Z wishes it could be this movie. The zombies in the film are properly scary: a rabid force of nature. Those infected turn fast, and don?t get any slower in their changed form, making for a literal race to presumed safety for the characters who happened to be on this train.

Train to Busan follows fund manager and dead beat dad Seo Seok-woo (Squid Game?s Gong Yoo!) as he and his daughter try to escape the zombie apocalypse on a high-speed bullet train bound for Busan from Seoul. Busan, the second-largest city in Korea, has cultural significance, as it was one of only two cities (along with Daegu) not captured by the North Korean army within the first three months of the Korean war. Because of this, refugees fled to the city, which also served as a temporary capital of the Republic of Korea. Here, Busan serves a similar purpose, as the peninsula is overrun by the zombie infection, from north to south.

Train to Busan would spur a not-as-good standalone sequel, Peninsula, but fans of the original film have Hellbound?a supernatural horror series from Train to Busan writer-director Yeon Sang-ho, out on Netflix in November?to look forward to. In the meantime, if you?re a fan of the zombie genre and haven?t seen Train to Busan, don?t walk, run (because these zombies are very fast) to a nearby streaming service. ? KB

The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil

The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil (2019)

An excellent choice for those of you who like your gory movies wayyyy more action-packed, Lee Won-tae?s The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil has the skills (and thrills) to pay the bills.

The critically acclaimed film tells the story of three men whose lives are set on a collision course after two of them become obsessed with eliminating the third ? a twisted serial killer already responsible for a handful of local slayings. Gangster Jang Dong-soo (Eternals star Ma Dong-seok) has already had a brutal run-in with the killer that has been dismissed as a rival gang attack, but he?s quickly convinced by rookie cop Jung Tae-suk (Kim Mu-yeol) that he?s just the latest in a long line of intended victims.

The duo agree to team up and combine their efforts to hunt down the murderer, but it?s a partnership that keeps violently disintegrating because they?re both so determined to stick to their own plans of attack: the gangster wants to destroy the killer with his bare hands, while the cop just wants to lock him up and get a promotion.

The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat as allegiances sway, but if there?s one thing you?ll be all-in on, it?s that the vicious Devil of the piece must be stopped one way or another. – KH

Can you have increasingly smooth, radiant and youthful skin? We certainly have the answer just by observing that of Emily Blunt, who seems to defy the passage of time, but how does he do it? Doing a ‘reset’ on his face, yes, as you read! This was assured by his faithful cosmetologist, Biba de Sousa a PopSugar.

The specialist revealed that she includes in the routine beauty from celeb a series of holistic treatments, especially when it comes to attending any awards, because they provide immediate results, naturally and with a relaxing effect. Do you want to know them? We give you the details.

Within her hectic work schedule, Emily always pauses to give her skin a well-deserved affection

Beneficial combination

Biba de Sousa specified that the holistic methods applied to the actress -freeing her from the effect of stress that work and travel produce on her skin-, are a combination of pulsed light therapies, microcurrent facials, lymphatic drainage and sessions of gua sha.

“The skin of Emily It is in very good condition so it doesn’t need much intervention in terms of more abrasive extractions or peels. It is very holistic. I don’t remember ever putting acid on his face. Not seeking extreme treatments has preserved her skin very well, and it looks the same as 10 years ago, “said the dermatologist.

Our face always deserves a massage that helps not only to rejuvenate, but also to relax it

Goodbye stress and fatigue!

Among the main treatments is release of fascia tissue, which is achieved with a manual technique for the relaxation of the facial muscles. The ideal is to give yourself a regular massage in the jaw area or practice facial yoga in order to alleviate the effects that tension generates on the face.

“Basically, I do a massage to release facial tension and improve blood circulation on the skin surface. It is also relaxing, which is what Emily needs. Because dry skin tends to harden once exposed to stress and this method erases traces of fatigue“said Biba de Sousa.

Luminous skin

Similar to this technique is the lymphatic drainage, a treatment that has also been carried out on the actress. The idea is to give yourself a gentle massage with facial oils to deflate the lymph nodes around the neck and face, thus removing fluid from this area. Its benefits? Leave her brighter, smoother and less puffy skin.

Ally of anti aging

The holistic medicine uses both modern and traditional treatments, such as the famous gua sha facial, an oriental facial massage that oxygenates the blood, delaying the appearance of new wrinkles, sagging skin, reducing dark circles and expression lines. It is very similar to effect of botox as claimed by its practitioners.

It can be done from home or in specialized centers, using different instruments such as stones or rollers made of beef horn, porcelain, or jade.

Jason Momoa has opened up about his friendship with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The “Aquaman” star, 42, shared during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight that he and the “Black Adam” actor, 49, bond over fatherhood.

“Oh, it’s just like two dads,” Momoa told ET when asked what their friendship is like. “It’s really cool. Even the same thing with [Chris] Hemsworth, you just kind of go like, you’re just buds.”

Momoa shares two kids with wife Lisa Bonet ? Nakoa-Wolf, 12, and Lola Iolani, 14. The “Game of Thrones” star is also a stepfather to Bonet’s daughter, Zoë Kravitz, 32, from her first marriage to musician Lenny Kravitz.

Meanwhile, Johnson shares daughters Jasmine, 5, and Tiana, 3, with his wife Lauren Hashian. He is also a dad to 20-year-old daughter Simone Alexandra with ex-wife Dany Garcia.

During the interview, ET showed the sweet personalized video message Momoa sent to Johnson’s daughter Tiana, who is a fan of Aquaman, when she turned 3 years old in April.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t be there, but I love you and tell your papa that I love him too,” Momoa said in the celebratory video. “I’ll see you soon, happy third birthday. Bye Jazzy, bye Tia, love you.”

Speaking about the sweet gesture, Momoa said it wasn’t a big deal because he and Johnson were friends, before going on to praise his pal. “I feel like he’s doing a lot of good things for the planet. And he’s a good father and I’m equally trying to do the same,” he added.

This wasn’t the first time Momoa had spoken about Johnson, with whom he has been pals for almost 20 years after meeting in Hawaii through a mutual friend. During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in June, the actor voiced his hopes that they will be able to make a movie together when the time is right.

“We tried to get together and make a movie together, but it’s just he’s way busier than I am and I’m pretty busy right now so, one of these days!” Momoa said.

Meanwhile, Momoa described his time filming his new movie “Dune” as “the greatest experience.”

“I can’t believe I’m even in this movie. It’s amazing to even be part of this and then work with my idol,” he said, referring to director Denis Villeneuve.

Momoa called Villeneuve “my favorite director in the world.” He also expressed his joy for the opportunity to work with incredible actors like Javier Bardem, Oscar Isaac and Josh Brolin.

Momoa revealed that he has already seen “Dune” three times, gushing that the film kept “getting better” with each viewing.

As for his training and preparation for the fight scenes, Momoa ? who plays Duncan, a powerful swordmaster who serves House Atreides and is dear friends with its future leader Paul (Timothée Chalamet) in the film ? credited his stuntman for protecting him and helping train him. He added that they just made sure to never hurt anyone.

“Dune” is now showing in cinemas and streaming on HBO Max.

There was a point in time when it seemed that if a horror movie came from Japan, it would be inherently scarier. In particular during the J-Horror boom of the 1990s and early 2000s, every other film was given the title of Scariest of All Time and would inevitably be met with a (far weaker) Western remake. Whether Japanese horror movies are actually scarier will always be a matter of disposition. What is true, at least of the ten titles selected here, is that they are filled with the strange, the unique and the unexpected. You won?t find loud bangs and sudden jump scares here. Nor will you find the lingering shadow of Christian morality. Instead, you?ll be treated to vengeful spirits, crises of identity, tortured ghosts and a crippling fear of long, black hair.

A lot of these films work as dramas and anti-war protests, or warnings about the pitfalls of modern life and work, but driving everything beneath the surface are the supernatural forces which feed off human weakness. Using ten great horror films as an example, this Movie List will explore the changing and developing tropes in Japanese horror. Not every film on this list is out and out scary, but every story has a creeping cruelty that drips with dread.

1. Kwaidan (1964)

Kwaidan consists of four traditional ghost stories which, like a lot of classic folktales, seek to teach morals and feature humans unwittingly caught in supernatural forces far beyond their ken. But rather than witches or fairies, as we?re used to in the West, the supernatural forces in Kwaidan manifest as autonomous locks of cursed black hair, shapeshifting snow maidens, armies of ghosts and an evil spirit trapped in a cup of tea.

Continuing his stellar run of features (including The Human Condition and Hara-kiri), director Masaki Kobayashi shifts genres but not themes. A lot of the horror in Kwaidan comes from the fact that these are stories of humanity in crisis. They often focus on peasant characters trying to survive a war, or on the machinations of powerful feudal lords. A master of the craft, Kobayashi?s camera captures his characters with the same tragic eye he?d perfected in his dramas. Add to that the glorious hand-painted backdrops and the immaculate set design and this may be the most beautiful horror film ever made. More haunting than scary, watching Kwaidan’s protagonists struggle against their deathly fates sends satisfying shivers down your spine.

2. Onibaba (1964) & Kuroneko (1968)

These two horror films from writer/director Kaneto Shindô would make for an excellent double bill.

Onibaba follows a nameless widow and her mother-in-law (a formidable Nobuko Otowa) made destitute by war and forced to kill and steal for their survival. The mother, jealous of her daughter?s youth and terrified of being left alone, comes into possession of a terrifying demon mask. What she thinks is an opportunity to control her daughter through fear turns into a far more unpleasant curse.

As a companion piece, Kuroneko swaps anger and terror for romance and tragedy. A mother (Otowa again) and her daughter are brutally and senselessly killed by a group of marauding samurai. Resurrected as vampiric, cat-like spirits, they start to prey upon samurai. Rather than relishing in vengeance, the women are cursed to live a life without love or humanity.

Despite the supernatural twist, the horror in both films comes from how the weak are made desperate and destitute by the actions of the powerful. Shindô manages to make tension and threat ooze out of nature (you?ll never be more scared of the images of swaying grass or deathly quiet bamboo groves), as though the very country itself is cursed.

Brutal and beautiful in equal measure, Shindô?s supernatural tales offer a multi-faceted look at how war so often destroys what it is nominally trying to save.

Robert Downey Jr. cried when “Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe and Anthony Russo told him their plan for Tony Stark/Iron Man’s fate in the 2019 blockbuster movie.

“When we started winding down the pitch, and getting to his death, Robert started crying,” Joe said in a new behind-the-scenes book called “The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe” by Tara Bennett and Paul Terry.

He continued: “And when we were done, he said, ‘That’s fucking awesome.’ That’s when we knew that we had to do it. Because he felt it.”

In the book, released on October 19, the Russos recalled meeting with Downey Jr. shortly after the release of “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016 to discuss the direction they had in mind for the character.

“In a way, it’s almost like a death in the family,” Joe said of meeting with the actor specifically to tell him about their idea for Tony to sacrifice himself. “When you’re saying to someone, ‘All these people you’ve loved and have hung out with for 10 years? That’s all gonna go away because we want to tell a story a certain way.'”

“What we wanted to do is communicate the entire pitch to Robert, to sort of take his temperature on it, because he had so much creative ownership over the character,” Anthony said. “We were like, ‘If Robert gets this, if Robert feels this, then we know we’re in a good place.'”

With Downey Jr.’s approval, Tony made the ultimate sacrifice near the conclusion of “Endgame” as he wielded the power of the six Infinity Stones to dust the villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army. The victory was bittersweet because, in snapping his fingers, the radiation and energy killed Tony.

November 2021 will bring the Hawkeye TV show to Disney+, and while one theory suggests that the series will kill Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), there are hints both ways. Like Black Widow, Hawkeye has often played second fiddle to the stories of other characters and has rarely had his own developed storyline. The tide started to turn on this in Avengers: Endgame and the Hawkeye TV show will finally give Clint Barton a starring role in a project.

Hawkeye is one of the longest-serving heroes who remains in the MCU. Having first appeared in the fourth movie of the franchise, Thor, he comes in only after Jarvis/Vision, James Rhodes/War Machine, Nick Fury, Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Thor himself. The character was given more depth when Avengers: Age of Ultron revealed that he had a family that he kept hidden to protect them, introducing Linda Cardellini as his wife, Laura Barton. This became the driving force behind Hawkeye?s storylines as he took a deal after Captain America: Civil War to retire and be with them, and after their disappearance at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame took out his anger at the world through his Ronin storyline.

While Hawkeye had closer moments with some Avengers like Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), his closest connection was to Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) who died in Avengers: Endgame. The new Hawkeye Disney+ series seems to be based on the consequences for his time as Ronin where he killed key figures of the underworld for five years. The possible closing of this arc, among other reasons, has many viewers wondering if this will be the last outing for Clint Barton.

Yes – Hawkeye Is Training His Replacement

Kate and Clint about to fire their arrows in Hawkeye

While the Marvel comics have an extensive precedent for heroes passing their mantles on to a new individual, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has only just begun to explore the concept. With Steve Rogers? (Chris Evans) departure at the end of Avengers: Endgame, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier focused on Sam Wilson?s (Anthony Mackie) struggle with picking up the title of Captain America. After the death of Iron Man, many have wondered who will be the spiritual successor for Tony Stark; however, the upcoming series Ironheart suggests that Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) will be taking on a similar role to the hero. In the first case, Steve Rogers is either dead, too old to resume the role, or is on the moon, and in the latter case, Tony Stark is definitely dead. To some extent, the permanent exit of these characters can be chalked up to the fact that live-action adaptations of large franchises can require extensive commitments from actors and eventually they want to move on and work on other projects.

In Hawkeye Clint Barton is set to be training his replacement, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). After rumors that Ronin has returned lead Barton to investigate the imposter, he meets Kate and takes her on as a protégé. If the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues its previous trend, then part of Hawkeye?s narrative of passing on the torch will be the character?s death. This seems especially likely as the MCU already made a story exploring the emotional toll of having to pick up a mantle that people associate with someone that they think is still alive between Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers.

Of the original Avengers (Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye) Hawkeye is one of only three who remain. With this history and over ten years in the MCU, Jeremy Renner and Marvel Studios might decide that it is time for Barton to have his curtain call. Allegations made against Jeremey Renner and rumors that he is difficult to work with might also drive his permanent exit from the MCU as he hands his title to a new face.

Yes – Yelena Is Coming For Him

Yelena Belova with Valentina in Black Widow.

The trailer for the Hawkeye Disney+ TV show suggests that there will be a series of antagonists who are seeking vengeance on Hawkeye for his actions as Ronin during the five years of the Blip. While that is plenty of threat for Clint Barton and Kate Bishop, it seems that a bigger threat might be headed his way. The post-credits scene for Black Widow shows that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is sending Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Natasha Romanoff?s adopted younger sister, after Clint Barton as her next target.

Valentina lies to Yelena and suggests that Barton was responsible for Black Widow?s death, implying that Yelena can seek vengeance against him. This plotline opens up the possibility for plenty of misunderstandings in Hawkeye. While it is possible that it will lead to a heartfelt explanation from Barton to Yelena of how much he cared for Natasha, it is equally likely that Yelena will tragically kill Barton before learning the truth.

No ? Hawkeye Is A Christmas Story

Pizza Dog wears his best holiday finery in Hawkeye

Perhaps the biggest argument against the Hawkeye TV series including Clint Barton?s death is that the show is set up as a Christmas story. Timed for a release that starts in late November and concludes between Christmas and New Year, it seems unlikely that Disney would drop the death of a long-running and important character on audiences in the middle of the holiday season. This is supported by the tone of the trailer for Hawkeye as it appears to be geared as a light-hearted action romp with a lot of comedy included, and a tragic death would be an incongruous conclusion.

Additionally, the series focuses on Clint Barton?s role as a family man as he struggles to make it back to his family in time for Christmas. The Blip already gave the Barton family a healthy dose of tragedy and adding Barton?s holiday season death to the mix would seem like overkill. As the MCU has recently told a story of Tony Stark dying and leaving a child behind, it seems more likely and more in keeping with Barton?s story that if he is set to exit the MCU it will be by passing his mantle on to Kate Bishop and then retiring to a farm upstate.

No ? Disney+ Series Have All Been About The Future

The Tracksuit Draculas aim their guns at Clint in Hawkeye

A meta look at the existing Disney+ series suggests that Hawkeye will leave Clint Barton alive. The shows have not shied away from dealing with important and difficult topics and, particularly in the case of WandaVision, have dealt with death and loss. However, with the exclusion of What If?? which is episodic in nature and doesn?t take place within the main MCU timeline, the TV shows have all focused on setting up the future of characters and an element of hope.

WandaVision led to Wanda accepting Vision?s death but also that his death might not be permanent. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) coming to terms with the fact that Steve Rogers was gone as Captain America and looking towards how they could work to keep his memory alive in the future. And Loki resurrected the character after his Avengers: Endgame death and set him up for a whole new adventure.

The Hawkeye TV show setting up Kate Bishop to take on the mantle fits with the Disney+ shows that have come before. WandaVision worked to set up The Marvels, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hints at a new Falcon, and Loki introduced Sylvie and Mobius. Therefore, for Hawkeye to conclude with Clint Barton?s death would be an unlikely departure from all that has come before. While there are arguments both ways that Hawkeye might die in his show, a retirement from his role to spend time with his family seems more likely.

Amidst plenty of controversy and a walk out at Netflix, Dave Chappelle has doubled down on his comments on the trans community made in his Netflix special, The Closer. In a new stand-up video, the comic has stated that he is willing to meet with transgender employees at Netflix ? or any member of the trans community, for that matter. Still, the controversial star has stated he?s not going to bend ?to anybody?s demands.?

In a five-minute clip posted to Instagram, Chappelle stuck to his guns about the special. In the past month since its release on Oct. 5, the special has gone under fire for transphobic and homophobic remarks that eventually led to a walkout at Netflix.

Chappelle?s response? ?I said what I said.?

?It?s been said in the press that I was invited to speak to the transgender employees of Netflix and I refused. That is not true ? if they had invited me I would have accepted it, although I am confused about what we would be speaking about,? Chappelle says in the video. ?I said what I said, and boy, I heard what you said. My God, how could I not? You said you want a safe working environment at Netflix. It seems like I?m the only one that can?t go to the office anymore.?

Chappelle blamed the controversy on ?corporate interests,? suggesting that some members of the LGBTQ+ community have been entirely supportive of him.

?I want everyone in this audience to know that even though the media frames it that it?s me versus that community, that is not what it is. Do not blame the LBGTQ [sic] community for any of this shit. This has nothing to do with them. It?s about corporate interests and what I can say and what I cannot say,? Chappelle says. ?For the record, and I need you to know this, everyone I know from that community has been loving and supporting, so I don?t know what all this nonsense is about.?

Speaking once again on cancel culture, Chappelle lamented the fact that his upcoming documentary has now been excluded from film festivals as a result of the Netflix controversy.

?This film that I made was invited to every film festival in the United States and some of those invitations I accepted. When this controversy came out about The Closer, they began disinviting me from these film festivals,? Chappelle claimed. ?And now, today, not a film company, not a movie studio, not a film festival, nobody will touch this film. Thank God for Ted Sarandos and Netflix, he?s the only one that didn?t cancel me yet.?

The comic finally said he was willing to talk with the transgender community ? albeit jokingly, with a handful of conditions they?d have to obey.

?To the transgender community, I am more than willing to give you an audience, but you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody?s demands. And if you want to meet with me, I?d be more than willing to, but I have some conditions,? Chappelle said, jokingly. ?First of all, you cannot come if you have not watched my special from beginning to end. You must come to a place of my choosing at a time of my choosing, and thirdly, you must admit that Hannah Gadsby is not funny.?

The Gadsby claim comes after the comedian slammed Chappelle and Sarandos over The Closer after the latter name-dropped her in a memo about diversity in Netflix original programming.

?Hey Ted Sarandos! Just a quick note to let you know that I would prefer if you didn?t drag my name into your mess,? she wrote. ?Now I have to deal with even more of the hate and anger that Dave Chappelle?s fans like to unleash on me every time Dave gets 20 million dollars to process his stunted partial world view.?

Chappelle closed out his new video by asking his audience a simple question: ?Am I canceled or not?? We?ll have to see when his movie becomes available this November.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are still undecided as to whether or not the highly anticipated Dune adaptation will hit HBO Max or not.

Dune could still play in theaters exclusively after all, with Warner Bros. and Legendary still undecided about the film’s release plan. The highly anticipated adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal sci-fi novel has faced a long road to theaters like most blockbusters that were originally slated to be released in 2020. Dune was originally scheduled to hit theaters on December 18 when WB made the last minute decision to push the film back to October 2, 2021, with the film zeroing in on The Batman‘s release date and pushing that film into 2022.

When Warner Bros. controversially announced that their entire 2021 slate would be hitting theaters and HBO Max, Dune was included in that list, but Legendary has pushed back against this with a potential lawsuit. So has director Denis Villeneuve, with both advocating for an exclusive theatrical release that could give Dune that best chance of launching what is potentially a massive franchise. Talk on the lawsuit front had died down in recent months, but it seems like both studios are still hard at work trying to figure out what to do with one of 2021’s biggest blockbusters.

Deadline reports that Legendary and Warner Bros. are still unsure of whether or not Dune will go to HBO Max. Legendary is still negotiating for an exclusive theatrical release, but this has not stopped the streamer from promoting the film as part of their high-profile line-up.

Timothee Chalamet in Dune Movie Trailer

Legendary has another ace in their pocket with the recent box office performance of Godzilla vs Kong, the other franchise the studio produces alongside Warner Bros. That film broke records this week to become one of the highest grossing films since the onset of the pandemic and netted the biggest opening weekend of any studio film since March 2020. This will only serve to help Legendary in convincing Warner Bros. that Dune could perform well as an exclusive theatrical release, especially by the time October rolls around and even more vaccines have been given out.

Still, Godzilla vs Kong‘s performance also proves that a film can perform well at the box office while still being released on HBO Max. It will all depend on whether or not Warner Bros. wants to go that extra mile and push for as much box office impact as possible. With Dune only covering the first half of the original novel, Warner Bros. may want to release the film exclusively after all. The studio is also producing a spinoff series for HBO Max, Dune: The Sisterhood and with multiple books in the Dune series, there is huge potential for a years long franchise. Luckily for WB and Legendary, they still have a few months to decide.
