VIASPACE Press Release

VIASPACE Security Rada in Successful Test for Air Force Research Lab

PASADENA, CA-September 10, 2008-VIASPACE Inc. (OTCBB: VSPC), a company commercializing proven technologies from NASA and the US Department of Defense, reported that its VIASPACE Security subsidiary participated in a successful test of its AIMS (Area Intrusion Monitoring System) Perimeter Security Surveillance Radar for the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL). The data collection test was conducted at Tennessee State University under a cooperative program with AFRL.

The primary objective of this data collection was to allow for proof-of-concept analysis of a new perimeter surveillance system approach focused on specific classification of different kinds of vehicles observed by the radar. The radar was used to implement a "Virtual RF Fence" that cue a set of digital and acoustic sensors and visual cameras mounted on the Engineering Building at Tennessee State University. Data from the various sensors was fused and analyzed to provide a rapid classification of the vehicle type. Future data collections planned under this program include other geometries with both pedestrians and vehicles. AFRL indicated that the preliminary data results all looked good.
The AIMS radar offered by VIASPACE can be upgraded to incorporate a wide variety of additional digital, IR, acoustic and visual sensors, such as those used in this data collection, using VIASPACE Security's SHINE inference engine. VIASPACE has an exclusive license from Caltech to commercialize NASA's SHINE real-time inference engine technology for most major applications, including defense applications, homeland defense, maritime security and diagnostics/prognostics.

A.J. Abdallat, President of VIASPACE Security, commented, "We are delighted to participate in this perimeter surveillance data collection that provides third party validation of our AIMS radar as a successful platform for perimeter defense. We believe that this system, upgraded with our sensor data fusion and SHINE inference engine technologies will provide several solutions to current and upcoming national security programs, as well as the basis for other prognostic and diagnostic applications."

About VIASPACE: Originally founded in 1998 with the objective of transforming proven space and defense technologies from NASA and the Department of Defense into hardware and software solutions that solve today's complex problems, VIASPACE benefits from important patent and software licenses from Caltech, which manages NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
